So it has been 3 months since Ellie was diagnosed with type 1 diabetes. We had her checkup which we will do every 3 months to monitor her. Right now her ac # is 6.8 which is good. When she was first diagnosed it was off the charts!! 7 is the golden #. they also told me that she is honeymooning, which means her pancreas still is working when it feels like. So right now she isn't needing a lot of insulin. Since the appointment I have already noticed a difference in her numbers and insulin units so I am sure we will be changing things around soon.
On June 20th the whole family went down to Childrens hospital to be in a diabetes family study. We will know something in like 4 months. They will let us know if anyone else has DNA markers that will make us in a higher risk group. It will also help the scientist figure out why some families get this and maybe help find a cure!!!
as for the summer the girls are in some sports. Ellie is almost done with soccer and Taylor is in a basketball league and this week she is in a basketball camp. Taylor is also heading up north with a girlfriend on July 1st-July 9th. She is growing up to fast!! When she gets home that Sunday we are heading down to miller park to watch the Brewers take on the Reds!! That is all I have for now....Hugs xoxo Nichole
